FBI director Wray has dismissed the idea that the Jan. 6 Capitol rioters were really fake Trump supporters from Antifa.
Meanwhile another rioter says he was a Trump supporter who assaulted police pretending to be an Antifa guy who then came to the rescue of the police he hitherto had assaulted.
And a lot of people are saying the rioters really, really were Mike Pence supporters pretending to be anti-Pelosi acolytes bent on seeing to it that Joe Biden’s dog is “more presidential.”
But then maybe it is far fetched that, when the rioters “fought like hell” as their leader urged them to do 20 minutes earlier, they were what they seemed to be.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
