AUGUSTA — A Millinocket man was arrested early Wednesday morning on allegations of attempting to steal from the First United Pentecostal Church on Wilson Street.
Brock Malone, 45, was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking and for violating conditions of release, according to a news release from the Augusta Police Department.
Brock was allegedly attempting to steal around $2,000 worth of items, including tools and musical equipment, before he was set to leave town on a bus, police said. Police said they were notified of the crime through a tip from a community member and intercepted Brock before he could leave.

We believe it’s important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It’s a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
