Zane E. Hayden

MADISON – On Tuesday March 9, 2021, Zane E. Hayden passed away at home after a brief battle with cancer. He was born March 6, 1954 in Madison, the son of Carlton and Thresa Hayden.

Zane attended Madison public schools. Upon graduation, he embarked on his life’s journey as a farmer-dairyman. His interest in dairy cattle developed while he was a member of the Madison Cloverauts 4-H Club. He worked for Bob Dean in Madison while he built up his herd of Aryshire cows. He later went to work for Caverly Farms of Clinton to the end of his journey. He was well known to area farmers and readily lent them a hand whenever needed, whether it be for haying, welding or as a herdsman.

His registered Aryshire cows, under the name of Zane Ary Farms were his pride and joy. Zane liked to travel the fair circuit showing his cows. He achieved many ribbons and awards from them including Best of Show/Grand Champion at Deerfield and Eastern States Exposition Fair.

Zane was also one of the founding members of the Abanaki Snowmobile Club. He helped to establish the bridges and trails that are still being used today. He enjoyed riding the trails with his little sister, Carla.

Zane was a quiet, humble man and a hard worker who never planned on retiring from the dairy business. He will be very much missed by his mother, Thersa; his sisters, Winnie, Becky, Cherry, Valerie, Carla; and nieces and nephews. Also missed by his best buds who were by his side through his journey, Phillip and Kevin.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to MaineGeneral Hospice nurse, Michelle, and the certified nurse’s aids who helped comfort Zane in his final days.

Because of Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of Zane’s life will be held later in May. Condolences to his mother and sisters may be sent to 328 Lakewood Road, Madison ME 04950.

Arrangements under the direction and care of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan ME 04976.
