NORRIDGEWOCK – Matthew Lawrence Russell died an unexpected and unfortunate death at 38 years old on Feb. 26, 2021 at his home in Norridgewock. Matthew was born in Waterville on August 5, 1982.

Matthew went to Madison school and got his GED. He also played baseball and football in his younger years at Madison. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing with his dad, was a sports fan of the New England teams, and he enjoyed all genres of music, mostly. Matthew loved to cook for his mother, specialties being of the Mexican menu and BBQ foods. He hated pink and loved animals, especially dogs. Matthew was a genuine guy with a soft soul and would give his shirt off his back for anyone that needed it more than he did.

Matthew is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kathy and Bruce Soucier of East Baldwin, his father, Steve Russell of Norridgewock; two brothers, Jarrod Russell of Norridgewock and Bryce Soucier of Stonington; two aunts, Diane Pete and Lisa LaBree, two uncles Howard Russell Jr. and Scott Russell; a great aunt Laura Arsenault; nephew Levi Russell Beane as well as a nephew and godson Mason Russell and his mother Aimee Ballard. Also survived by many cousins and friends. Matthew is predeceased by his grandparents, Howard Russell Sr. and Joann Russell and Lawrence Ellis and Margaret Ellis.

A celebration of life is to be determined at a later date in the spring by his mother and father.
