Steven A. Hartwell

BANGOR – Steven A. Hartwell, 59, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at Eastern Maine Medical Center after battling a long illness. Steven was born in Millinocket on July 29, 1961, the son of Howard and Barbara (Rollins) Hartwell.

Steven graduated from Stearns High School in 1980 where he was an active member of the rifle club and tennis team. After graduation he attended EMCC in Bangor. His employment consisted of working as a custodian at Husson College, driving for Eastern Maine Transportation, and owning his own cleaning business.

Steven’s interests included loud music and he was an avid guitar player. He enjoyed playing live music in the Bangor area. He also had a passion for tennis, Scrabble, motorcycles, flying, video games, firearms and snowmobiling. He loved spending time with his cat Princess and his time at camp at Smith Pond. He had a strong religious faith throughout his life. Steven was very devoted to his family and was a very kind and thoughtful person.

Steven is survived by his son Eric, daughter-in-law Lindsay and granddaughter Fiona of Veazie; parents Howard and Barbara Hartwell of Millinocket; sister Valarie (Vickie) and her husband Fredrick McLain of Middleburg, Fla.; nephews Aaron, Justin and niece Shauna McLain; along with many cousins and friends, and his best friend Paul Cote. He is also survived by the mother of his son, Janelle Cormier.

Steven is predeceased by his grandparents William and Florence Hartwell and Marion Keisor.

The family would like thank Joe Harkings, PA for his excellent care and attention, the staff of EMMC and Kindred Hospice for their support of the family during their difficult time and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Due to Covid-19 a memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the summer at Sunset Cemetery in North Anson.
