The other day was a beautiful late winter/early spring day with temps in the 50s and bright sun. It was a great day for a road trip from Fairfield to Bangor. The reason for my trip was to go to the Northern Light Health Vaccine Clinic at the Cross Center for my first of two Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine shots.

Upon arrival at Bass Park, I was impressed with all the signage directing us to parking and then to the path to the doors of Cross Center. It was clear that from the first greeters at the doors, to the health screeners just inside, to the persons directing us through the well-marked halls, that myself and others were experiencing a well-oiled operation.

It is an extremely smooth process, one that the Northern Light Health organization should be proud of. Everyone involved, whether they are paid staff or volunteers, should be given great thanks for the jobs they are doing. And everyone seems happy to be there. It is evident that what they are there for is especially important, getting vaccines into the arms of Maine’s residents. The mood was not solemn, but instead was one of joy. Joy that each arm vaccinated brings us all one step closer to what will be a new sense of “normalcy.”

I want to close by once more thanking the Northern Light Health organization for the work they are doing not just at the Cross Center but at numerous vaccine clinic locations across the state.
