George Brochu

BINGHAM – George Brochu, 72, of Bingham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan with his wife of 53 years by his side and his two daughters.

George was born on Oct. 4, 1948 in Skowhegan, the youngest son of Frank and Edwina (Chasse) Brochu. He graduated from Upper Kennebec Valley High School in Bingham and attended University of Maine at Orono and the Skowhegan Business College. He married Vivian Caldwell on April 27, 1968.

He was a self -employed logger for most of his life, he enjoyed the hard work and it allowed him to provide for his loving family. He was a member of the Bingham Fire Department and the Lions Club. He was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

George is survived by his loving wife, Vivian (Caldwell) Brochu; his two daughters, Tonya Smith and her husband Richard of Winslow, and Donna Lewis and her husband Chad of Fairfield; his grandchildren, Kristopher Smith and his fiancée Jillian Grant, Kaitlyn Smith, Trevor Lewis, Tyler Lewis, and Alexis Lewis. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Brochu and his wife Patricia of Montana, and John Brochu and his partner Judy Daviau of Florida, his sister-in law Joyce (Caldwell) Gagne and brother-in law Robert Gagne of Florida; aunt, Yvette Chasse of Skowhegan, aunt, Lucille Andrews of Skowhegan; as well as many cousins; nieces and nephews.

George enjoyed spending his summers with Vivian living at their camp on Embden Pond. He always had a fire going in the fireplace and was ready to grill and feed anyone that visited. He enjoyed making bean hole beans. George was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four wheeling.

A graveside service will be held in the spring in Robinson Memorial Cemetery in Moscow.
