A group of 10 outing club students from Maranacook Community High School, in Readfield, spent a recent weekend at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson, and learned how to build outdoor shelters from David Butler of Maine Path and Paddle Guides.
The club won the trip through the Teens to Trails Fall 2020 Trip Lottery.

Maranacook club advisor Robyn Graziano and her students said they fun, and were especially proud of their ability to keep themselves warm, safe and comfortable in the woods, according to a news release from Jennifer Hazard of Teens to Trails.
Photographer Elliot Higger, currently an MFA student at Maryland Institute College of Art, documented the adventure. To see more photos of their trip, visit “Teens to Trails” on Instagram.
The lottery is a program in partnership with outdoor partners throughout the state that provides trips and opportunities to registered Maine high school outing clubs.
