SOUTH PARIS – Celebration Barn, Maine’s international center for physical theater training, creation and performance, has been awarded multiple grants, propelling the organization into a vibrant 2021 season.

The Onion Foundation recently awarded the nonprofit $15,000 for general operating support and an additional $7,500 for addressing new and changing needs resulting from the pandemic.

In March, Celebration Barn was also recognized with a $6,000 Partnership Grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. These awards provide some of the support necessary for Celebration Barn to host outdoor live performances and classes this season.

Celebration Barn’s Summer Show Series will return this year, bolstered by the new funding. Building off of the success of the barn’s sold-out drive-thru shows last year, the funds will support the construction of an outdoor stage, enabling the performances to take place in part outside the theater. The Show Series kicks off on July 10 with Mike Miclon’s “The Early Evening Show.”

The grants also support summer programs, including on-site yoga classes, the return of the barn’s Circus Camp for children, and theater trainings both at the barn and online. Additionally, the awards allow Celebration Barn to support artists in creating new work leading up to the barn’s 50th anniversary celebration in 2022.

Tickets for on-site summer events go on sale in May. Visit CelebrationBarn.com for more information. Celebration Barn is located just off Route 117 at 190 Stock Farm Road.
