Roberta P. McLaughlin

WEST GARDINER – Roberta P. McLaughlin, 84, of West Gardiner passed away peacefully Thursday, April 8, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was born Oct. 4, 1936 in Gardiner, the daughter of Laurence Sr. and Audrey Hackett Dick.

She attended Gardiner area schools and graduated from Gardiner High School, the class of 1955. She attended secretarial school and married her first husband, Gary D. Pillow of Rustburg, Va., where they resided and raised a family of three until his death in 1968.

She raised the family on her own, until she met and married Dr. Ivan E. McLaughlin in 1982. The family moved to Maine in that same year.

Roberta loved living at her home on Cobbosseecontee Stream.

She is predeceased by husbands, Gary D. Pillow and Dr. Ivan E. McLaughlin; brother, Thomas W. Dick, sister, Nadine “Dee Dee” Doiron, brother-in-law, David Trask, and sisters-in-law, Sue Dick and Geraldine Dick.

She is survived by her children, Marnie Webb and her husband Douglas of Pittston, Gary D. Pillow II and his wife Melissa, of South China and Paul J. Pillow II and his wife Shari of Durham; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Laurence “Buddy” Dick Jr. of Virginia, sister, Pamelia Trask of Oregon, brother-in-law, William Doiron of Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Thursday April 22 at 12 p.m. at the Old Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Boulevard in Augusta.
