Wendie June Burnham

READFIELD – Wendie June Burnham, 60, died April 14, 2021 at her home in Readfield. She was born August 25, 1960 in Rochester, N.Y., the daughter of Paul Kenneth and Charlyn June (Fuhrmann) Brooke. Wendie spent most of her childhood in Lebanon and attended Pioneer Valley Academy in New Braintree, Mass. She worked for several years as a CNA and then provided childcare for many years as a nanny and in childcare centers. She raised her two daughters in Maine, primarily in Wayne and Readfield. Wendie was a devout Seventh-Day Adventist Christian who spent a lot of time studying the Bible. She felt a lot of peace and closeness with God while spending time at the ocean and would at least visit on her birthday. She loved all of God’s creatures but especially dolphins and hummingbirds. She got a lot of joy out of visiting with her friends but her greatest joys were being a mother and grandmother. She is predeceased by her brother, Bryane Brooke and sister, Lyndie (Brooke) Velez. She is survived by her husband, Larry Burnham of Readfield; daughters Tonilynne (Burnham) Swartz and her husband John of Suisun City, Calif. and Laura Burnham of Readfield; five brothers, Daniel Brooke of Texas, Edwarde Brooke of Wyoming, Johyne Brooke of Kentucky, Kevin Burnham of Michigan, and James Burnham of Wells, two sisters, Christie Decker of Wilton and Bonnie Tanguay of Ohio; and three grandchildren, Riley Soha of Readfield and Chase and Kensley Swartz of California. A celebration of Wendie’s life will be held later this summer. Private burial will be held in the family plot in Lebanon. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop where condolences to the family may be shared on the obituary page of the website at http://www.familyfirstfuneralhomes.com.
