Wayne Macomber

WEST GARDINER – Wayne Macomber, of West Gardiner, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021 alongside his daughter and son. In his final days he continued to fight and stay strong while whistling, singing and sharing memories with his children.

He was born in Gardiner on Dec. 18, 1936, the son of Wesley and Emma (Boynton) Macomber. Wayne married his wife, Madeline and they moved to Wiscasset where he worked as a mechanic. Shortly after Wayne started his business in West Gardiner, Macomber Transportation, which is still in business today.

Wayne is remembered fondly for his love of his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved car racing, square dancing, wintering in Florida with his wife and most of all Wayne loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed by many.

Wayne is predeceased by his loving wife of over 61 years, Madeline; his parents; and his sister, Mearlyn and her husband, Lloyd Wiles.

Wayne is survived by sister, Helen Rines of Pittston, sister-in-law, Frances and husband Tom Galvani of Whitefield; son, Randall Macomber of West Gardiner and his three daughters Kim and Husband Dan Paradee of Brunswick, Kate and husband Brandon Martin of West Gardiner, Kelly and husband Blaine Guido also of West Gardiner; daughter, Beth and husband Patrick Nugent of New Jersey and their daughters Danielle and husband Stephen Pruser of New Jersey, Gabrielle of West Gardiner; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate, pending COVID restrictions, a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gardiner, July 24 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at West Gardiner Cemetery.
