Jeanne D. Jacques

WATERVILLE – Jeanne D. Jacques, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on April 24, 2021, her sister’s birthday. Angie came and brought her home with her, Jeanne was 91 years old.

Mom was born in Waterville on March 20, 1930, the daughter of Wilbur and Euphemie (Rossignol) Labbe. She attended Mount Merici Academy for most of her school years and graduated from Waterville High School in 1948.

Jeanne was employed in the office of Dr. Lucien Pellerin, our local dentist, as a bookkeeper, for W.T. Grants, and for over 20 years for Drs. Kenneth Sewall and Paul Jones. Mom’s final employment was as a receptionist for Parish of the Holy Spirit in Waterville. She was very active in her church, St. Francis de Sales, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. These ministries were very important to her.

Mom married our dad and grandad, Fernand J. Jacques in 1951 and was predeceased by him in May 1990. Mom always said that she was blessed with a wonderful, caring family.

She leaves behind four sons and one daughter, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren: Her sons, Paul Jacques; Brian Jacques; Reginald Jacques and his wife Janice of Waterville and their children Joseph and wife Tracy, and Joshua; Roger Jacques of Winslow and his children Justin and wife Tia, Michael and wife Gwen and their children Samuel and Benjamin, who because of Covid-19, Mom was never able to meet, hold, or hug him, which she would have loved to do.

She is also survived by her daughter, Janet and her husband Chris Weeks of Oakland and their children, Christopher, and Amanda and her children, Wyatt and Mikaela.

Jeanne is also survived by her special sisters-in-law, Lorraine Cook and Nancy Jacques, and her former brother-in-law, Donald Shorty. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Besides being predeceased by her parents and husband, Mom lost her only sister and very best friend, Angela Shorty, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Germaine Jacques, brothers-in-law, Florian Jacques and Harold Cook, and her longtime companion, Jack Welch.

Our family would like to give our deepest thanks and appreciation to everyone at Northern Light Care Lakewood for special love and compassion that our mother and grandmother received while she was a resident there.
