Roderick A. Belanger

MOSCOW – Roderick A. Belanger, “Wee Wee”, 68, of Moscow went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 25, 2021, after a long battle with lung cancer. He passed on peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 12, 1952, in Skowhegan, Maine, he grew up in Bingham with 12 siblings graduating from Valley High School, class of 1971.

Roderick was an advocate for healthy forests, a selective logger, who for many years logged with his draft horses. He loved the outdoors enjoying fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and attending horse pulls. He also enjoyed watching his children/grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Cynthia (Bean) Belanger – wife of 46 years; son, Damian Belanger and wife Tanya of Bingham, Gabriel Belanger and wife Lindsey of Wiscasset; daughters, Marguerite Cossaboon of Freedom; Hannah Baquet and husband John of Winslow; grandchildren Ruby, Emma, Pearl, Akolde and Ainsley; brothers Maurice, David, Ronald, twin brother Roger, Bernard; sisters Nancy, Avis, Katheleen , JulieAnn, and JoAnne; along with many nephews and nieces. We can’t forget his best friend, Shep, and many grand dogs.

Roderick was predeceased by his father, Larry Belanger, mother, Martha (Collin) Belanger, his oldest brother, Roland, and Kenneth Belanger, who was the first causality from Maine in the Vietnam conflict.

A celebration of life will be held later this summer to be determined at a later date.
