AUBURN — A Lewiston man was seriously injured Saturday afternoon after he crashed his motorcycle on Hotel Road while swerving to avoid a truck.
According to Auburn Police Sgt. Nathan Westleigh, Robert Madore, 46, was driving his 2011 Harley-Davidson on Hotel Road when he failed to notice that a truck had stopped in front of him.
Westleigh said that Madore locked his brakes, laid his bike over and slid 100 feet before coming to a rest.
Madore suffered “serious but non-life-threatening full-body threatening,” according to Westleigh, while his passenger, Stacy Smart, 43, of Sidney, received non-life-threatening injuries.
Both Madore and Smart were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Westleigh said that Madore was able to avoid striking the truck that had stopped in traffic.
