Elizabeth “Bette” (Yager) Prince

LITCHFIELD – Elizabeth “Bette” (Yager) Prince, 78, of Litchfield, passed away on April 28, 2021. She was born in Gardiner on Sept. 7, 1942 to Joseph and Emelyn Yager of South Gardiner.

She was a 1960 graduate of Gardiner Area High School. While attending Gray Plus School of Business in Portland, she met the love of her life, Gene Prince, and they were married in September of 1960.

Bette worked the majority of her career at MaineGeneral Health in the IT department starting in 1974 as a computer operator and retiring in 2005 as director of IT.

She had many hobbies including quilting, snowmobiling, fishing, cooking, playing cards and enjoying time at camp. She loved holidays, but she cherished Thanksgiving Eve where all of her family would gather to begin feasting, playing games, having lots of fun with many laughs and plenty of eating. She was full of spirit and spontaneity, and she was never one to say no. She was always ready and willing to go on an adventure any time, any place, anywhere.

She is predeceased by her parents; her brother, Paul Yager, sister-in-law, Carol Musfeldt; brothers-in-law, Ed Musfeldt and Doug McAdon; and many aunts, uncles; cousins; and her beloved dogs, Mollie, Angel and Lizzie.

Along with her husband, Bette is survived by sons, Randy Prince and his wife Nancy of West Gardiner, Shawn Prince and his wife Lorna of West Gardiner; grandchildren Nathan Prince, his wife Jessica of Gardiner, Alison Getchell, her husband Ted of West Gardiner, Chad Prince of West Gardiner; great grandchildren Arianna and Carter Prince, Aiden and Landon Getchell; as well as many other special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be a graveside service at Mount Hope Cemetery, One Bartlett St., South Gardiner on May 5 at 2 p.m.
