Michael John Stevenson

PETALUMA, Calif. – Michael John Stevenson, 37, died alone at his home March 20, 2021 after a long battle with debilitating psoriasis and alcoholism.

He was born May 1, 1983 in Waterville, the son of Linda Stevenson (Woolston), John R. Peacock and stepson of Paul J. Bonenfant who raised him from the age of 3.

Michael grew up in Gardiner, graduating from Gardiner High School in 2001. He worked for many years at “Dennis’ Pizza” while in high school and after. He also worked at “The Liberal Cup” and “County Fair Farm”.

In 2006 he went on an adventure with his friend Nate Whittier driving across the USA to work and live at “County Line Harvest” an organic farm in Petaluma, Calif. His final jobs were with two local pizza shops and full time with CVS in Novato, Calif.

At a young age Michael was in the “Young Marines” and excelled in the program earning a major award of “Honor Recruit” when he graduated from the program.

Michael’s friends and family all tell of his kindness, caring, humble and loving ways and how he gave the shirt off his back and last dime away if someone was in need. Michael loved people unconditionally and was a “gentle soul”. He was a “rescuer” of people and animals, cats especially. Always having feral cats vaccinated, spayed and neutered. When nobody else could get near them, he made pets of them. He loved taking care of a horse named Ivan and helping his friend and landlord put the loose cattle back in the pasture on the farm where he lived. He had a great love for the arts especially music and had a natural talent playing guitar and singing.

He was fortunate to find the love of his life, marry her and had happiness and love for awhile. He was able to visit Diana and her family four times in Ecuador where she is from. They remained friends and always loved each other. The alcohol separated them.
