AUGUSTA – Roger R. J. Arbour, 91, died Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta following a long illness.

He was born in Augusta on April 20, 1930, a son of the late Edouard M. and Oliva (Letendre) Arbour.

Mr. Arbour attended Augusta schools and had been employed by Bates Mfg. – Edwards Division and the Augusta Mental Health Institute for 26 years.

He was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Maine State Retiree’s Association.

Roger was married to Jeannine Couture on Sept. 1, 1956.

Mr. Arbour was predeceased by several brothers and sisters, Edward, George, Armand, Richard, Juliette and Rita.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannine M. (Couture) Arbour of Augusta; his daughter, Linda A. Arbour of Augusta, three sons, Daniel Arbour and his partner Vicki Oakley of Jacksonville, Fla., James Arbour and his wife Meda of Panama City, Fla. and Michael Arbour and his wife Sharon of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Brandon, Erica, Andrea, Alexis, Lonnie, Jamie and Chris; a sister-in-law, Venise Audet of Lewiston; several great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins, including Sandra, who often visited and brought Roger special treats.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the old Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
