Priscilla Anne (Dumont) Lovley

WINSLOW – On Sunday, May 16, 2021, our brave and beloved mother, Priscilla Anne Lovley (Dumont), 80, of Winslow, passed away surrounded by relatives and friends after a lengthy medical issue involving her throat.

Mom graduated proudly from Winslow High School in 1959. Her class recently celebrated their 60 year reunion in 2019 and frequently got together often for luncheons. Our mom got most of her enjoyment from working outside in her flower gardens.

Mom worked 12 years in the Admitting Department at Thayer Hospital in Waterville. Before that, she worked many years for Sears & Roebuck in Waterville after graduating high school. She was very proud of the fact that she was only involved in one, small, automobile accident, after 45+ years of driving. The best times of her life were spent roller skating at Happy Wheels in Augusta, and taking care of, helping to raise and spending time with, her firstborn grandson, the “apple of her eye”, Andrew. Priscilla could be seen walking the Dunbar Road with her brother, Frank, or at the indoor track at Colby College, walking two miles a day as well as at the many yard sales around Central Maine with her daughter Heidi, until just a few years ago.

Priscilla and Heidi hit yard sales for 30 years together! Mom would always say “We don’t spend a lot of money, but we have a lot of fun!” This was in reference to both roller skating AND yard saling.

Priscilla was predeceased by her parents, Annie (Bolduc) and Herman Dumont, her oldest brother Carlton; precious granddaughter, Hope Marie Lovley; and her longtime companion, Everett Whitman.

Priscilla is survived by her daughter Heidi A. Stewart and son-in-law Mike of Winslow, her son, Heath T. Lovley and daughter-in-law Heather of Gorham; brother Larry Dumont, currently of Scarborough, that mom lived a total of half of her life next door to, brother Frank Dumont of Winslow, who she enjoyed many trips to the coast with over the years, beloved classmate and very good friend, Tony Culpovich of Lewiston who wished he could have done some traveling with Mom, but was unable to, due to covid; mom’s grandchildren, Heidi’s boys, Andrew Ryan Lovley of Providence, R.I. and Benjamin David Stewart of Anchorage, Alaska, Heath’s children, Lila Hope Lovley, Lily Hope Lovley and Luke Heath Lovley, all of Gorham; her brother’s children, her adult neices and nephews, that she loved and who loved her, and last, but NOT least, her “unnofficial grandson”, a man that was a boy that she helped with and loved like one of her own, Joshua Fluke of Waterville.

Mom had some great friends and stayed close with her classmates. Terryann Wentling (Woodbury) of Pennsylvania, her longest, dearest friend. Jean Zenzie of Waterville of North Carolina, a coworker from long ago that always stayed in constant touch and shares many great memories with our mother.

Local friends, Mrs. Lucette Wolfe who she was so appreciative of, for many reasons, great people to know, the Welch family of Vassalboro who she loved and admired, Maxine Bouchard who she enjoyed many laughs with and many breakfasts with at the early Bird restaurant in Oakland over the years.

Mom’s very special friend, Pauline Day who she met on the day that they both signed up to volunteer for AmeriCorps and, after serving seven years together, have stayed close friends ever since, attending many craft fairs and outdoor concerts. And we can’t forget her furry companion, Annabelle, her black kitty cat that she saved from the Bangor Animal Shelter twelve years ago, that will now be her daughter Heidi’s little companion. Mom will be greatly missed by all of the friends that made memories with her, listening to music and laughing on the glider bench in her garage over the years.

Priscilla had many doctors that helped her over the years. For the past seven years, her PCP, Dr. Jenny Pisculli at Maine Dartmouth has been a very special person for her to go to with questions and concerns that she had and mom felt listened to and cared for with her. Thank you, Dr. Pisculli. The family would like to thank the many MaineGeneral nurses and Hospice care workers that came to her home to give the tools to, to guide and assist her daughter Heidi to be able to give her mom the best care that she could over the last 4 weeks of her life. Mom received so many visits from friends, old and new, in her last days. Flowers, cards, the many emails, texts and phone calls checking in and sending love from both near and far. Every card, text, email and phone conversation was either read by or shared with and/or read to mom. It meant everything to all of us.

Heath and Heidi would like to express sincere gratitude to Heidi’s employer for their understanding during this very difficult time, allowing Heidi to be at our mom’s side 24/7 for over a month, essentially becoming our mom’s nurse. To mom’s friend Pauline for tirelessly holding our mom’s hand at her bedside with offers to always do more. Thank you, Pauline. And Tony for accompanying our mother to her throat surgeries over the past two years that they were together and also for stopping everything and leaving his home to be here with Mom the entire time she was ill these past five weeks. Thank you, Tony. Couldn’t have done this without you.

A private family burial is taking place at St Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Gallant Funeral Home, Waterville. An online guestbook may be signed, condolences and memory shared at http://www.gallantfh.com.
