Betty Moody Peavey Randall

MONTVILLE – After a lifetime of hard work and personal sacrifice for her family, our mother has been reunited in heaven with her parents; Freda Wellman Moody and Allen ā€œPeteā€ Moody. She is survived by daughters, Virginia Peavey Harrison and husband Alfred, Deborah Peavey Brackett, and Nancy Mitchell and husband Linwood (Woody) and sons, Clifford and wife Sharon, and Timothy Randall. Multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a couple of great-great-grandchildren too; as well as brothers, Warren Moody and partner Helen Farrar, and Carl Moody and wife Brenda; a special cousin, Beverly McKenney. Her extended family included multiple cousins, nephews and nieces all of whom she held dear in her heart. She was predeceased by her parents, and favorite aunts and uncles, Paul and Lou Wellman, Otto and Charlotte Wellman, Mildred and Russell Allen, and Archie and Gladys Sennett; grandmother, Maude Wellman and first husband, Forrest Peavey Jr.She corresponded with many longtime friends from across the country during the wonderful retirement years she enjoyed in Florida with Grammie Moody. We all enjoyed many happy visits at the ā€œThe Woodsā€ too. Mom was a lifetime member of the Liberty Baptist Church where she made sure that we attended Sunday school, church and vacation bible school. She loved the Maine coast and lobster rolls. She did a fair amount of traveling which included trips to Grammieā€™s childhood home in Oklahoma with Grammie and Tim; a lovely visit to Greece with Grammie when Ginny and Al were stationed there; multiple trips to Nebraska, Chicago and Texas. Cliff notes that she even visited Gettysburg once with him but threatened to never speak to him again if he drove up Mount Washington (which they did not do). Many bi-annual drives from Maine to Florida which Debbie and Nancy coordinated. Her work ethics and sacrifices allowed her to provide her family with swimming, dance and music lessons and to obtain musical instruments and the occasional new baseball. She was a lifelong Democrat and was pleased to have been able to cast her vote this year and see Trumpā€™s removal from the White House. She enjoyed the summers she stayed at Warren and Helenā€™s in Freedom. We are all grateful for the years that she spent at Nancyā€™s and Woodyā€™s. She loved Woodyā€™s barbeque skills as we all did.She was pleased to have been able to attend Dorothy Harrison Thorntonā€™s wedding and reception where she renewed many friendships. As well as was delighted to have had the opportunity to babysit Barry and Cheryl Bean Moodyā€™s boys as they grew into fine young men. All gatherings of friends and family were special for her and we have marveled at her ability to remember all the names and dates for birthdays, weddings and anniversaries. Nancy, Woody, Tim, Sharon and Cliff were blessed to share Momā€™s final hours with her. She taught and inspired us to work hard and do better than she did. Sorry Mom, we can never do better than you! We will love you and miss you always!A memorial service will be held at a later date at the family request.
