Joan Mary Black

MADISON – Joan Mary Black, 86, of Madison passed away on May 19, 2021 at Maplecrest Rehabilitation and Living Center in Madison. Joan was born on May 1, 1935, the daughter of Harold Withee and Bertha Tozier Withee. She was educated in the local schools.

She was employed for many years at Norwalk Shoe, she was also a general manager for the local Madison public television station and later was a CNA providing home care for local residents.

Her hobbies included crafts, needlepoint, ceramics, spending time with family and friends socializing.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother Frank Withee, brother Douglas Withee, brother Richard Withee,,sister Gloria Cahill; her son Timothy Rogers; and grandson Nathan Withee.

Joan is survived by her children, Tom and Susan Logan, Annette and Robert DePesa and Scott and Tina Black. She is also survive by three grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda and Lindsay; eight great-grandchildren; her sister Alice Paine, brother Clifford Withee and his wife Janice, brother Ralph Withee and his wife Charlotte, and sister Mae Roderick. Joanne is also survived by her brother-in-law Raymond Cahill, sister-in-law Dorothy Cooper Withee, close friends Ron and Marlene Meade, and Crystal Tibbetts Locke; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on June 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery.
