Rosalyn “Rose” Roth Jean

AUGUSTA – Rosalyn “Rose” Roth Jean, 62, of Lajoie Street, died unexpectedly on May 20, 2021 in Augusta. She was born on Nov. 25, 1958 in Portland, the daughter of Clyde Roth and Mary Mitchell Roth and Ann (Wilson) Roth, who adopted her after Mary’s death.

Rose attended school in Winthrop, graduating from Winthrop High School in 1977. She went to Casco Bay College in Portland for two years. After college Rose began working for the State of Maine, where she would remain for her entire career. First, with the State Police, then as an accountant with Environmental Protection and the Department of Administrative and Financial Services. Rose was dedicated to her job and after a fulfilling career, she retired in 2018.

Anyone who knew Rose, knew that she was always ready with a smile and conversation. She never hesitated to talk to someone new and make a connection. Her enthusiastic personality and social nature afforded her many wonderful relationships, and these were treasured by Rose. She planned her high school reunions, stayed connected with old friends, and fiercely loved her family.

Rose met her husband, Gary Jean, in 1979. At the moment they met, Gary thought she was cute and knew they would be married. His humorous personality matched hers well and they were always seen as the ‘good-time’ couple. They were married in 1983 and had two children together, Jesse and Amanda.

Rose enjoyed spending her days with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. There is nothing she would not do for them; even if it meant riding a zipline. She also enjoyed bonfires, gardening, canning, Doterra potions, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, camping with friends and family, hiking, and basking in the sun with a good book. Rose loved to dance, whether it was with her father, her husband, or even boogying on her own around the house.

In addition to being survived by Gary, her husband of 38 years, she is also survived by her son Jesse Jean, wife Krystal, and their children Henry, Franklin and Margaret; her daughter Amanda Ledoux, husband Matthew and their children Quinn and Calvin. Rose is also survived by her sisters Catherine Brown, and Dawn Costello and her husband Greg; a nephew Cody Cogswell and wife Mikayla; sisters-in-law Jacqueline Blaisdell and husband Ron, and Jeanine Bouchard and husband Bob, Kandi Jean and family.

She was predeceased by her parents Clyde Roth, Ann Roth, and Mary Roth, mother-in-law, Yvette and father-in-law Raymond; sister-in-law Gloria Larrabee, and brothers-in-law Gerard Jean and Tom Larrabee.

Family and friends may visit from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday June 3, 2021 at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

A celebration of life for Rose and dear friend Barbara will be held; beginning at noon on Saturday, June 5 at the Calumet Club in Augusta.
