Marilyn Edith (Gordon) Caouette

NORRIDGEWOCK – Marilyn Edith (Gordon) Caouette, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on May 13, 2021 with her daughter Ronie by her side. She was born Nov. 11, 1937 in Monmouth, the daughter of Merle Henry Sr. and Edith Zelda (Bishop) Gordon.

Marilyn was educated in the schools of Skowhegan, Class of 1955, and attended the Maine School of Practical Nursing in Waterville, graduating in 1978. As a young woman in the 1950’s, Marilyn worked at Grant’s Department Store in Skowhegan and as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at the old Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. In the 1970’s, she worked for Hathaway Shirt Company in Waterville and for Norridgewock Shoe Company.

When Marilyn became an LPN, she worked the night shift at Redington Fairview General Hospital for 18 years and retired in 1994. Mum enjoyed her nursing career and loved caring for her patients. After retirement, Mum was the First Aide Nurse at the Skowhegan State Fair.

Marilyn was a member of the Catholic Church and later in life joined the 7th Day Advent Church in Norridgewock.

Mum loved trips to the ocean, a good meal; especially lobster and steak, horseback riding, ceramics, camping, raising her kids, reading, gardening, music and singing. She had a great love for animals, especially her dogs and cats. She rescued field mice, birds, squirrels and any furry critter in need of a helping hand. Her love of animals was boundless. She was also filled with tenacity, determination, a good sense of humor and an inner strength that made her the worlds strongest and most amazing woman we know.

She is survived by daughters, Lyn Macauda and husband Rob, Ronie Marie Huff and husband Steven, son, Dan Caouette and Fiancée Ashley, and daughter-in-law, Kim Caouette.

Grandchildren, Dee and husband Kyle Sweeney, Heather Dozier, Travis Caouette, Glenn II and wife Savannah Caouette, Trever and wife Navi Caouette, Danielle and husband John Sevey, Emma, Hailei and Gabe Caouette.

Always in our thoughts and forever in our hearts, Mum. We Love You.

Gods Garden  “God looked around his garden and found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always take the best. He knew you were suffering, He knew you were in pain. He knew you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, “Peace Be Thine.”  It broke my heart to lose you, but you did not go alone….for part of us went with you when God called you home.”~ Author Unknown~
