Barbara C. Webber

OAKLAND – Barbara C. Webber was born on Dec. 17, 1932, in Avon, Conn., and passed away on May 5, 2021, at her home in Oakland. She was born the biological daughter of Howard Nelson and Martha Estella (Rodger) Fuller. She was the youngest of eight siblings. She was placed in care of Royal W. and Cora E. (Hinckley) White at the age of 18 months during the depression and was legally adopted by the couple on Nov. 8, 1939.

Barbara graduated from Middletown High School in Middletown, Conn. in 1950. She worked for Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in Hartford, Conn. for four years. She married the love of her life, Ronald J. Webber, on Jan. 16, 1954.

Barbara also worked at the Hartford Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center and the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater Hartford in Connecticut. She lived in West Suffield, Conn. with her husband and children for 33 years, where she attended the Second Congressional Church of West Suffield. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a deaconess. She also belonged to the West Suffield Grange No. 199.

Barbara moved to Oakland in 1986 with her husband. She then worked for Colby College in Waterville as a tape librarian and printer operator until her retirement in June 1999. She was an avid square and round dancer since 1959. She loved to garden, do arts and crafts, feed and watch the birds, animals, both family pets and wild ones around her home. She also loved going to the Maine coast in the summer.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Ronald J. Webber; her son, Curtis Webber; and her biological siblings, most of whom she was able to connect with in her later years.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Coral E. Webber and grandson, Jesse A. Webber, both of Sidney; and great-grandson, Zachary Webber of Independence, Mo.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2 at Springer Cemetery in Sidney with Pastor Gary York officiating.
