Jayne Robinson

MONMOUTH – Jayne passed away peacefully Friday, May 21, 2021 at Androscoggin Hospice in Auburn following a brief hospital stay at CMMC. Jayne sustained injuries after a fall in her home that were too great to overcome. Jayne and her family experienced truly outstanding care and compassion at Central Maine Medical Hospital and Androscoggin Hospice. Jayne said so herself which was quite remarkable given what she was going through. Our family wishes to extends a sincere thank you to both.

Jayne grew up in Monmouth on her family’s dairy farm, graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1958 continuing on to earn her teaching degree from Gorham Teachers College. She was employed as a kindergarten teacher in Waterville for her entire 33 year career. She retired early in an effort to help in the care of her Mom and Dad which in turn, sparked a deep interest in genealogy.

She loved the hunt for genealogical data, collecting coins (particulary state quarters), stamping (making her own greeting cards and gift bags), going to the fairs to watch her brother Gordon and his family compete with their pulling oxen, driving around town and breakfast with the gang at Phil’s. Jane enjoyed good humor with a quick wit, and most of all, taking care of family. Case in point – before she would focus on taking care of herself in the hospital, she went through the entire family line up wanting to make sure everyone was okay first.

Jayne was predeceased by her parents, Edith and John “Wes” Robinson; brother Gordon, sister Judy; and nephew Scott Robinson. She leaves behind her sister-in-law Marlene Robinson of South Hiram; nephew Jay Robinson (wife Brenda) from Limerick, niece Tammy Sawyer (husband Dave) from Falmouth, and niece Stacy McConkey (husband Brett) from Barnesville, Ga.; and several great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews; as well as several cousins from the Robinson and Eastman family.

A graveside service for Jayne will be held Saturday June 19 at 9:30 a.m. at Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop, followed by a reception for Jayne at the Monmouth Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall where she volunteered for many years (79 Academy Road). Her family looks forward to seeing you and hearing your stories about Jayne.

Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop where condolences to the family may be shared on the obituary page of the website at http://www.familyfirstfuneralhomes.com

In lieu of flowers (of which Jayne was not a huge fan), Jayne would ask “go out to breakfast with friends” or you are welcome to make a donation in her memory to:
