LIBERTY — Calla Collins of Unity took top honors this year in Liberty Graphics T-shirts’ 23rd annual art contest.

The contest was titled “Art and our Natural Environment.”

Her submission was an acrylic painting of freshly-picked blueberries and iconic Maine boots.

This $1,000 scholarship art contest is open to all Maine high school seniors.

Collins grew up in Maine, the daughter of two park rangers. She has been making art since a very young age, and has two uncles who are artists.

She also has won two awards for poetry, likes to hike nearly every weekend, and enjoys both rock climbing and kayaking.

Collins plans this fall to attend the College of the Atlantic with a focus on art.
