Dean B. Ouellette

AUGUSTA – Dean B. Ouellette, 74, of Augusta, passed away after a brief illness on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2021. He was born August 12, 1946 in Augusta and was the son of Hector Ouellette and Annette Martin.

Dean was a graduate of Cony High School and was drafted into the Air Force. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and worked as a jet engine technician on numerous planes including the C130 and C141 Cargo planes, and the Fighter Jets 100’s and F4’s. He was stationed at Clark Air Force Base, McGuire Air Force Base, Japan, and the Philippines from 1967 to 1971.

When Dean came home, he worked at the Togus VA in the Engineering Department as a laborer and a painter for 33 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, watching movies, and listening to ’50s music as well as some country western. Fishing was his number one passion which he shared with his son, Mark. Grandpa “Papa Dean” also enjoyed playing video games with his grandchildren. He loved gatherings with his family especially the time he could spend with his two granddaughters and three grandsons.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Sheila White; brother, Elmer Ouellette, and sister, Linda Dube.

In addition to his wife, Karen, Dean is survived by his son, Mark Ouellette and his wife Nicole of Augusta, stepson, John King and his wife Colleen of Boston, stepson, Michael King and his wife Aimee of Des Moines, Iowa, his son-in-law, James White of Mt. Vernon; his brother, Danny Ouellette and his wife Pam of Hallowell, his sister, Pat Ashcroft of Augusta; six grandchildren, Renee Ouellette, Jacob Ouellette, Luke White, Matthew White, Tessa King, and Sophia King; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta followed by a graveside service at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta promptly at 10 a.m.

Due to COVID at this time, we will practice social distancing and for the safety and well-being of everyone, we request that people in attendance, please wear masks. The family respectfully requests that everyone refrain from any personal contact, including embracing.
