Sarah Helen Harvey

DOVER, N.H. – Sarah Helen Harvey, originally from Gardiner, Maine, passed away suddenly on May 25, 2021, at her home in Dover, N.H. She is survived by her parents Gail Rae Carter of Cumberland, Maine and William K. Harvey and Barbara Harvey of Manchester, Maine; her brother Mark Harvey, his wife Linda, daughter Anna and son Ethan, of Evanston, Ill.; siblings Eric Rollins of Biddeford, Maine, and Margot Rollins–Karlberg of Hampton, N.H. Sarah was preceded in passing by her grandfather Ray H. Carter and grandmother Mavis Farnham Carter of Washburn, Maine and her grandfather Earle W. Harvey and grandmother Helen Goodman Harvey of Gardiner, Maine.Sarah was a talented artist, photographer and free spirit who travelled the United States and to several international countries, observing and recording her impressions of the people she met, the places she visited and the beauty she witnessed. She attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif. earning a B.A. in Photography and Studio Art and winning numerous awards and gallery showings in the area.A lover of animals of all kinds she was a devoted pet parent to cats and dogs throughout the years with especially fond memories of Ben, her bull mastiff who joined her on many of her cross-country adventures and Berries, her beloved cat who was with her at her passing.Sarah spent her formative years both in Gardiner and Manchester, attending high school at Oak Grove-Coburn and Maranacook Community High School. She returned home several times in her adulthood to work alongside her father at Harvey’s Hardware, at times living above the store where she had a darkroom to continue creating her photos and artwork. She was a friend to many in the Gardiner and Hallowell communities. Most recently Sarah was living and working in Dover, where, prior to the pandemic, she was an event planner for Tendercrop Farm, producing seasonal programs for families and young adults. She enjoyed the outdoors, nature, wide open spaces, and the freedom they provided. She loved music of all kinds and sought out bands, videos, and live music to share with others. Her smile and enthusiasm were often contagious, and she was well suited to the role of bringing people together to enjoy an experience that she orchestrated.A memorial service and celebration of Sarah’s life will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Christ Church in Gardiner at 2 p.m. Please go to http://www.taskerfh.com to sign the online guestbook.
