ELLS WORTH – Megan Watson hit a three-run home run to key a five run second inning, as the Nokomis softball team beat Ellsworth 7-0 in a Class B North semifinal on Saturday.

No. 3 Nokomis (14-5) will face No. 8 Winslow (7-11) in the Class B North championship on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Brewer. No. 2 Ellsworth ends the season at 16-2.

Melissa Walker hit a two-run double for the Warriors in the second inning. Mia Coots earned the win, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out 12.

 

WINSLOW 6, FOXCROFT ACADEMY 3: Harley Pomerleau had four hits, including two doubles, to help the Black Raiders take the Class B North semifinal win in Dover-Foxcroft.

No. 8 Winslow (7-11) will face No. 3 Nokomis in the Class B North championship game, Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Brewer. No. 5 Foxcroft ends the season at 11-7.

Leah Knight had three singles for Winslow. Emma Michaud earned the win, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out 11.

 

BASEBALL

 

RICHMOND 17, PISCATAQUIS 3, 5 INNINGS: Andrew Vashon struck out seven and allowed just two walks to go along with his four RBI at the plate as the top-seeded Bobcats (12-2) dispatched the No. 4 Pirates (5-9) in a Class D South semifinal matchup in Richmond.

Vashon earned the win on the mound and hit a triple at the dish. Max Viselli added two RBI, while Cole Alexander had two hits and drove in a run.

Fischer Cobb was dealt the loss for the Pirates, allowing nine runs on seven hits.

The Bobcats will face No. 3 Searsport in the regional final on Tuesday at Saint Joseph’s College in Standish.

 

BOYS LACROSSE

 

WELLS 18, MARANACOOK/WINTHROP/SPRUCE MOUNAIN 3:  The Warriors (9-3) jumped out to a suffocating lead en route to a huge win over the Black Bears (4-3) in Wells.

Wells took a 9-0 lead after the first quarter to deflate Maranacook/Winthrop/Spruce Mountain on Saturday. Preston Briggs scored eight goals for Wells to lead all scorers.

“They got up two or three goals and our guys were thrown back by it and I think once they got a lead our guys got down on themselves,” Maranacook/Winthrop/Spruce Mountain coach Kyle Dennett said. “We weren’t able to recover from 9-0 after the first quarter. They had a really good game and they had a lot of guys that did good things.”

 

GIRLS LACROSSE

 

MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 20, LINCOLN 5: Seven players scored as Maranacook/Winthrop took the Class C quarterfinal win in Readfield.

No. 2 Maranacook/Winthrop will host No. 3 Waynflete for a semifinals game at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Maranacook/Winthrop led 12-1 at the half. Ella Delisle had seven goals, while Addie Watson and Ashley Deshamp each added four goals.
