Bernice “Bunny” Ellen (Jewett) Mansir

LEWISTON – Bernice “Bunny” Ellen (Jewett) Mansir, 81, a resident of Monmouth, went to Heaven on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She was born on April 26, 1940 to Donald Curtis and Helen (Caston) Jewett at their East Pittston home. She attended Pittston’s old school houses and then Gardiner High School, graduating in 1958.

Bunny married Robert Ernest Mansir of Pittston on April 1, 1962. Bunny worked for the State of Maine in the clerical profession until becoming a full-time housewife raising their four daughters and managing their small farm. In 1985 she reemployed with the State of Maine, retiring January 2001 from the Board of Licensure in Medicine.

Bunny is survived by her daughters Robena Mansir, Dawn Hamel, Halene Bickford and Rhonda Weeks, all of Monmouth; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Curtis Jewett of Pittston; and several nieces and nephews.

Bunny is predeceased by her parents; her husband; her sister, Gwendolyn Dunbar, her twin, Barbara Shaw, and her two infant brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 18 at Victory Baptist Church, 1170 Route 202, Winthrop, with visitation held immediately prior, beginning at 10 a.m. Burial at Riverside Cemetery, Arnold Road, Pittston. Mask-wearing is requested to protect those who have not been vaccinated. Please do not attend if you are experiencing virus symptoms or are in current quarantine status. The funeral service will be aired live on the Victory Baptist Church’s YouTube channel that can be accessed through their website, vbcwinthrop.org. Arrangements were kindly made by Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home, 707 Main St., Monmouth.
