Patrick W. Shea, Jr.

CHELSEA – It is with overwhelming sadness and heavy hearts that we mourn the untimely passing of our son, Patrick W. Shea, Jr., 31, on Thursday, June 10, 2021. Patrick was born Feb. 19, 1990 in Lewistone.

There are no words to describe the profound loss to his mother Sarah J. (Brackett) Cotnoir and her husband Douglas of Chelsea, and his father Patrick W. Shea, Sr. and his devoted companion Sharlene Maschino of Randolph.

He will always be remembered as a sincere, kindhearted, respectful person who was compassionate, without judgment. He could carry on a conversation with anyone he met, including their dogs. He was big in stature and gentle in spirit. His quick wit and smile would brighten any gathering. He loved to make others laugh, often laughing with them at his own expense.

Patrick cherished the time he spent with his family, enjoyed working with his hands and worked hard when anyone needed help. He loved impromptu, home cooked meals with his Mom, especially tacos. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the boat with his Dad and was proud of his Irish Heritage. In his younger years he was an amazing hockey goalie and played soccer.

He was happiest when he was outside, most recently working as a worm digger, having previously owned and operated O’Shea Lawn Care in Southern Maine.

In addition to his parents, Patrick is survived by his grandmother Rachel Shea of Randolph, grandmother Linda Allen and her devoted friend Peter Bergeron of Poland, Maine, grandfather Thomas Craw of South Carolina; sister Tanya Turner and husband Jeff of Pittston, sister Amanda Tippens and husband Jason of Champlain, N.Y., stepsister Amanda Gilbert and husband Dana of Chelsea, stepbrother Michael Cotnoir and wife Robyn of Hudson, Mass.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was Uncle Pat to Coleman, Rylee, Levi, Giovanni, Lucas, Kiana, Taylor, Kaylee, Alyssa and Devin.

He was predeceased by his “Gramp,” William Shea, a decorated veteran, whom he loved and respected tremendously.

Patrick’s visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 16th from 4-6 pm at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner. There will be a celebration of his life immediately following visiting hours at the Gardiner Elks Lodge, 148 Cobbossee Avenue, Gardiner. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staples Funeral Home website: http://www.familyfirstfuneralhomes.com.
