WHITEFIELD — Sheepscot General Store owners and coworkers will dish out free ice cream with all the topping they can muster from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at 98 Townhouse Road, in celebration of its 10th anniversary. The ice cream social also will include music by Red Bird, Bertie Koller and Army of Astronauts, playing lawn games and flying kites, and socializing.
Ten years ago, Sheepscot General Store held an ice cream social/grand opening to celebrate summer and welcome Whitefield to the newly opened store.
Following in the thoughtful footsteps of Austin Moore, who started Uncas Farm in 1967, Ben and Taryn Marcus combined farm and market to bring locally raised and sourced produce and products to Whitefield, all the while striving to strengthen connections within the community. Those who would like to learn about the history of Uncas Farms and all things Sheepscot General can head over to the “About” section of its webpage sheepscotgeneral.com.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
