Helen L. Grover

VIRGINIA – Helen L. Grover of Colonial Heights, Virginia, died Friday, May 28, 2021, and heard these words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant” from her Lord and Savior. Helen was born in Hallowell, Maine, to Bernard White Sr. and Helen McGibney White on April 30, 1938. She met her husband, Donald Grover Sr. in 1953, and told her best friend that she was going to marry him … marry him she did and they shared 66 years together, October 1 would have been 67. Helen loved gardening, sending cards of encouragement, puzzles, Bible reading and memorization, FaceTiming and messaging with family, and friends. She had a smile that could light up the room and had friends across the country and the world. She loved studying, and had a bachelor’s degree in Theology. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Donald Grover Sr., daughters, Tammy Rose of Fayette, Cathy Grover of Jefferson, Judy Niles of Pittsfield, and son, Don Grover (Tina) of Hampden. Her brother, Paul White (Suzanne) of Florida, and sister, Brenda White, sister-in-law Myrna White. She was known as Nanny to the following grandchildren, Karen Williams (Dan), Jason Luce (Jenny), Ben Luce (Mandie), David Niles, Jr, Johnathan Niles, Erin Grover Bridges (Dylan). Her great-grandchildren are Katrina, Abby, Isaac, Eli, Vanessa, Eliza, Elise, Brady and Natalia.She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Bernard White Jr. “Whitey”, Richard White, son-in-law, Reginald Rose.Helen’s graveside service will be in Hallowell Cemetery on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ambrose Rolfe officiating.
