Norman L. Moody Jr.

CANAAN – Norman L. Moody Jr., 77, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on June 20, 2021. He was born to Gladys Walker, and Norman Moody Sr. on Feb. 17, 1944, in Skowhegan Maine. He was predeceased by his mother, Gladys (Walker) Fish, father, Norman Moody Sr.; sisters, Eleanor McAfee, and Muriel Fish; brothers-in-law, Ralph McAfee, and Robert Holt, and bonus son, Corey David Webb. He is survived by his wife, Debra (Collins) Moody; seven children including, Norman Moody III and his wife Norma of Garland, Mark Moody and his wife Evelyn of Woodland, Wayne Moody and his wife Theresa of Corinna, Bruce Moody and his wife Melinda of Fairfield, Lisa Brewer of Enfield, Connecticut, Aric Moody and his wife Lindsey of Winslow, and Shane Moody of Waterville; three bonus children, Tracy Webb of Lewiston, Jeremy Bernard and his wife Kelly of Seekonk, Massachusetts, and Naomi Mulrath of East Waterboro; two sisters, Irmalene Holt of Skowhegan, and Thelma Clark of Benton; two brothers, George Fish and his wife Cher of Cornville, and Walter Moody of Etna; 31 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Norman spent his youth on the family farm in Cornville and often had many stories to tell of his time there. Later, with great dedication, he would serve in the United States Army from 1961-1970 part of the 4th Battalion, 18th US Infantry, and Hell on Wheels, including time as a Private of the Guard, Berlin Brigade Honor Guard, Germany, and two tours in Vietnam assisting with communications. Once stateside, aside from starting his family, Norman would go on to pursue a career as a Machinist settling in Connecticut. After retirement, Norman returned home to Canaan, Maine. He will be forever known for his kind heart, giving spirit, teddy bear hugs, light-hearted chuckles, witty humor, problem solving nature, and unconditional love for animals fathering many cats and dogs over the years. Norman will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know and love him.
