The annual Dresden Summerfest at the Pownalborough Court House returns this year to provide fun for the whole family from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at 23 Courthouse Road, off Route 218. Colonial Maine Re-enactors will be on hand to join in the festivities, which include early American games for kids and adults and music by Ken Morse and Friends.

A first-ever tug o’war between the re-enactors and the Dresden Fire Department is sure to stir up some tense moments, and a pie-tasting contest should provide some more pleasant sensations. Meanwhile, a character artist will draw portraits of young and old. Children will be happy to know that the goats will be back, ready to be petted.

The Dresden Fire Department will sell hamburgers, hot dogs and snow cones to provide energy for all the activities.

Dresden Summerfest is hosted by Lincoln County Historical Association, a nonprofit organization that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
