Sherry Lynn (Towns) Arbour

MONMOUTH – Sherry Lynn (Towns) Arbour of Monmouth lost her battle to cancer in the early morning hours of July 2, 2021. She was born in Augusta, on Sept. 21, 1962 the daughter of Lorette (Leblanc) Fournier and Homer Towns Jr. Sherry graduated from Cony High School in 1980 and four years later got her BA degree in Accounting and Business from University of Maine at Augusta. She was employed by Maine General Medical Center as an accountant for 27 years.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents MaryAnne and Florian Leblanc of Augusta and paternal grandparents Arvilla and Homer Towns Sr. of Wayne.

She is survived by her mother Lorette L. Fournier of Monmouth, father, Homer F. Towns Jr. and stepmother, Gail of Winthrop, ME; brothers: Anthony “Tony” Towns and wife Susan of Livermore, Charles F. “Charlie Weed” Towns of Augusta, and his partner, Christine Waldron; niece Christine Duplissis and her son (great nephew), Isaiah of Leeds and her special little side kick nephew Gabriel Tanner Towns who she had an extra special love for! Also, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sherry was best known for her love for her family and friends. She was an amazing daughter, sister, niece, friend and “Nani”. Special friends include Dottie Arbour Lapointe, Amy M. Perez Blasidell, Mark and Judy Bard, Eric and Carol Lindholm, Gail Whitlock Combs and Robin Dawes.

A very special thanks to Aunt Mellen and friends, Harlan and Barbara, Jessie L. Blake and especially Janie and Carl Hinkley whose selflessness and love for Sherry was nothing short of amazing.

Sherry took pride in her crafting abilities. Her attention to detail showed in whatever she did, whether it was making her beautiful jewelry, sunflowers, dragon flies, weaving baskets, painting rocks, homemade cards or improving her home! She loved to stay active by traveling, going on adventures with Gabe, hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, walking, or line dancing with Janie and the girls.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the exceptional care from Hospice and the nurses and staff at the Comfort Care Unit Glenridge.

Sherry’s wishes were that there be no funeral services but a celebration of her life which will be held Saturday July 17, at the Le Club Calumet, 334 West River Road, Augusta from 1-4 p.m.
