WHITEFIELD — Because of the dismal Fourth of July weather, the Whitefield Library and Community Center Used Book and Yard Sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at 1 Arlington Lane. The event will include a selection of used books and lots of yard sale treasures.
Back by popular demand, the library will feature its 2022 community calendar. Last year’s theme of local artists drew a tremendous response. This year the library is looking for photographs with a Whitefield theme: ‘People, Places, and Things.’
The following guidelines will apply:
• Up to four images can be submitted for consideration;
• Photos may be in color, or black and white;
• Images should be oriented horizontally, or landscape format;
• Submit in high resolution (when in doubt submit the image);
• The library is looking for all the seasons (winter, spring, summer, and fall) of Whitefield; and
• Give a brief title or description with each photo and the photographer.
Email submissions to [email protected]. Submissions due no later than Sept. 15. For more information, call Sue McKeen at 207-446-7473.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
