WASHINGTON — Fire destroyed multiple buildings at an auto sales and salvage business on Route 17 in Washington, with firefighters from eight communities responding Saturday night to fight the flames.
Firefighters prevented the blaze from reaching a house at the property, but most of the business was destroyed, including a large garage, at Ron’s Auto Sales and Salvage, owned by Ron Jackson, according to Washington Fire Chief Phil Meunier.
There were no injuries reported in the fire at 317 Augusta Road, also known as Route 17.
Meunier said Sunday afternoon he could not provide additional information about the fire because it was still under investigation Sunday by the Office of State Fire Marshal.
At least two buildings were destroyed, but Jackson’s house next to the business was saved by firefighters, some of whom were at the scene from about 7:30 p.m. Saturday until 2:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Meunier.
