Giant map of Maine Contributed photo

The 2021 East Madison Days and Maine’s bicentennial will be celebrated the weekend of July 16-18.

The weekend will begin with an exploration of Maine using the Giant Traveling Map on Friday. This National Geographic produced map is 25-foot by 18-foot, so people can walk all around the state, explore its borders and identify important historical and natural landmarks. Later participants can meet with organizers from 6 to 7 p.m. at the East Madison Grange on Grange Road and bring socks. An open mic night, with Bob Nicholson, Brian Richmond and other local musicians, will follow from 7:15 to 9 p.m.

Saturday the East Madison Historical Association plans to hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its 1108 East Madison Road location. Lee Glynn will appraise whatever antiques or family treasures for a small donation from 1 to 3 p.m. at the East Madison Fire Station on East Madison Road. Tickets for the Magi quilt raffle and the silent auction will be available all day, too. The East Madison Grange will host its first 2021 spaghetti supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Sunday is the hot dog/dynamite picnic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire station. The winner of the quilt will be drawn and the winning bids for the silent auction items will be announced.
