Dorothy E. (Brown) Doucette

NORTON, Mass.- Dorothy E. (Brown) Doucette, 96, of Norton, Mass., formerly of Waterville, Maine, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence, R.I. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur L. Doucette.

Born in Waterville on Nov. 9, 1924, she was a loving daughter of the late Percy and Phoebe (Hunter) Brown.

Dot grew up in Waterville and was a graduate of Waterville High School. She had made her home in Norton for the past 2 ½ years and was a former lifelong Waterville resident.

Prior to retiring, Mrs. Doucette was employed as a bank teller for Federal Trust in Waterville. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, which is now part of the Corpus Christi and Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours Catholic Churches. She formerly served as a church money counter and enjoyed get-togethers with fellow women parishioners as part of the “Breakfast Club”.

Dot’s family, who she loved dearly and was so proud of, were truly the focal point of her life. She enjoyed search puzzles, reading, playing bingo and volunteering her time at the Waterville Soup Kitchen.

She is survived by her devoted children, Mary Soule and her husband David of Florida, David Doucette and his wife Alison of Sandwich, Mass., John Doucette and his wife Susan of Florida, James Doucette of Illinois and Robert Doucette and his married spouse Thomas Slotten of Illinois. She was the cherished grandmother of Dawn Lopez and her husband Raphael of Florida, Jamie Doucette and her partner Michael Vickery of Bellingham, Mass., Samantha Doucette and her fiancé Conor Gagliardi of Mystic, Conn., and the great-grandmother of Olivia Doucette Schmidt and Ellie Doucette Vickery. She was the dear sister of the late William Brown.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 22 at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours Catholic Church in Waterville. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Central Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
