DAMARISCOTTA — River Arts invites artists to submit work for a juried show of abstract art. The deadline for submission is 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7.
Ingrid Ellison, the juror, is a painter and arts educator working in oil, mixed media and visual journals. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree from American University and has exhibited at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Åarhus Gallery, the University of Maine Bangor, the Cynthia Winings Gallery and AVA Gallery and Center for the Arts and the Carver Hill Gallery.
She has participated in residencies and workshops, notably at the Vermont Studio Center, Maine College of Art, and Castle Hill Center for the Arts. Visit Ellison’s website at ingridellison.com.
The “Abstract” show is open to all media. All work must be gallery ready and clean. Wall pieces should be wired securely with picture wire and screw eyes. No wet paint will be accepted.
Artists can enter two pieces with a size limit of 26 inches (in any direction) including frame, or one larger piece with a size limit of 48 inches (in any direction) including frame. There will be no exceptions allowed. Works must be delivered in person. Work cannot be dropped off before Tuesday, July 27.
Entry and membership forms are available in the gallery or may be downloaded from riverartsme.org. For members the entry fee is $15, and for nonmembers it is $25. All submitted works must be for sale, and River Arts retains 35% commission on sold works.
The accepted list will be emailed to all submitting artists by the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 11. Unaccepted works should be picked up promptly. “Abstract” will run from Tuesday, Aug. 10 to Saturday, Sept. 11.
River Arts is located at 36 Elm St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
