Thanks to Bill Nemitz for his insightful column about the Nao Santa Maria (“In fourteen hundred ninety-two, Columbus scarred the world anew,” July 18). He is absolutely correct.
What an insult to the Native Americans of North and South America to have a ship arrive in 2021 that celebrates Columbus.
To follow up on the column, readers might want to watch “Exterminate All the Brutes” on HBO, and read the book by the same name.
And while passing out thanks, one is due The Theatre At Monmouth, where before the opening curtain, the audience is reminded that the theater is on what was (and is) Native American land.
