Alphonse H. Tetreault Jr.

SOLON – It is with a heavy heart that I try to do justice to this wonderful brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that has blessed our lives and lost his fight with cancer. He was born In Farmington, Maine to the late Alphonse H. Tetreault, Sr. and Mildred (Lane) Tetreault on Sept. 16, 1941. He grew up in North Jay where at an early age he started helping neighbors with their outside work. He attended local schools and graduated from Jay High School in 1960, after which he joined the U. S. Navy for 4 years attaining the rank of SFM2. After the Navy he joined his parents in Connecticut and met his wife, Linda Turning, which he married in 1965. He worked at Hamilton Standard, obtained his CDL license and drove truck for First National and other companies in Connecticut. In the early 70’s he moved his family back to Maine where he resided in Bingham and Solon. He drove truck for L. J. Kennedy until his forced retirement due to an industrial accident that took his left leg. He spent the last few winters in Florida and did a lot of exploring around the state. He was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone that needed it.He was predeceased by his parents and a nephew, Richards Gibbs, Jr. He is survived by his life-long companion, Linda; son, Joseph of Massachusetts, daughter Darlene (Scott) Lee of Jackman; his beloved sister, Julia Belanger of Chesterville; grandchildren, Thomas Roderick of Solon, Yvette (Tom) Engles of Brighton, Mass., and Heather (Deven) Berthelson of Utah, Scottie (Jamie) Lee, and Charlie (David) Carrier of Jackman; nephews, Keith (Wanda) Gibbs of Auburn, and Brian (Alice) Gibbs of Epping, N.H.; seven great-grandchildren; two grand-nieces; and many cousins.We would like to send a special thank you to his son, Joe and his companion, Tammy Steinhilber and his grandson Thomas for their dedicated help to keep Al at home. As well as special neighbors, Steve McMullen and Nicki Homenick, and Maine General Hospital Hospice.A celebration of life will be held on August 7, 2021, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Solon Fire Hall/Town Hall, 121 South Main Street, Solon, Maine.
