Robert Walter Harris

SKOWHEGAN – Robert Walter Harris, 84, passed away July 15, 2021 at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. He was born Oct. 16, 1936 in New York City, New York, the son of Charles Schulek and Dorothy Harris. He attended Bound Brook High School in New Jersey. On October 8, 1960, he married Patricia Kenney in Highland Park, New Jersey. He was employed at Rogers Radio in Manasquan, New Jersey and served in the Naval Reserve in Lakehurst, New Jersey for 13 years when he was called to active duty in 1961 and was discharged in 1962. While stationed at Lakehurst, he flew as air crew in the Navy. Later in his career, he worked at Solon Manufacturing in Skowhegan from 1975 to 1998.Robert was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Skowhegan, and attended Cross Roads Bible Church. He flew his ultralight from the little runway at his house and did mission work in Nicaragua, Haiti, South Africa and Equador. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia (Kenney) Harris of Skowhegan; three daughters, Beth Harris of Queens Creek, Arizona, Michelle Warren and husband Robin of Buckfield, Jill Dow and husband Derick of Buckfield; grandchildren, Megen Sperry of New Gloucester, Kati Volante and husband Todd of Queens Creek, Arizona, Chelsea Davies and husband Andrew of Turner, Emma Heikkinen and husband Blaine of South Paris, Jesse Warren and fiancé Brianna Damon of Auburn, Anna Warren, Rachel Warren, Andrew Warren, Cade Dow, Ethan Dow, Hailey Dow and Nathan Dow all of Buckfield; great grandchild, Lenora Robyn Davies of Turner. He was predeceased by brother, Charles Harris.The family wishes to thank Redington-Fairview Hospital and Beacon Hospice for the loving care they gave, especially in Robert’s final days.A private graveside service will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.Arrangements under the direction and care of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan ME 04976.In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Robert’s memory to Shepherd’s Chapel, PO Box 416, Gravette, Arkansas 72736-0416 or Mercy Ships, PO Box 1930, Lindale, Texas 75771.
