SOLON – Roderick F. Steele, 74, of Solon passed away on July 9, 2021, at his home in Solon.He was born Jan. 10, 1947, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Rodrick Steele Sr. and Winifred McSorley. He was educated in the local schools. Following school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving in Vietnam, retiring as a sergeant. He was a self-employed handyman, working for many local clients. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his wife, Cynthia Steele.Roderick is survived by his children, Kimberly Hoppe and her husband Jeff, Brenda Mackenzie and her husband Kirk, Danielle Steele and her partner Shane, Roderick Steele Jr. and his wife Lillian, Michael Steele; his grandchildren Rj, Adalynn, Alyssa, Keira, Liana, Addeline, Colton, and his sisters Barbra Waite and Ann Marie LaBlanc. There will be a graveside service held on Aug. 12, 2021, at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta at 1 p.m.Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
