Theresa Mary Rose Chaplin

CHELSEA – Theresa Mary Rose Chaplin, of Togus Road in Chelsea, passed away on July 11, 2021.

She was born to John and Helen (Cote) Soucy in St. Basile New Brunswick, Canada on July 20, 1931.

Theresa was a proud homemaker for the majority of her life. She was a devout Catholic, and a member of St. Michael’s Parish, attending Mass in Gardiner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church weekly until her health prohibited her from continuing.

Theresa was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Edmund J. Chaplin; as well as her granddaughter, Michelle L. Hutchings.

She is survived by her five children, Charlotte Cameron of Boulder, Colo., Gary Chaplin of Pittston, Rosemarie Gagnon of Chelsea, Brenda Andrews of Gardiner, and Joseph Chaplin of Waldoboro. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her love of family gatherings, her times at the camp her husband built on Three Cornered Pond, and her contagious laugh.

Graveside services will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta on Wednesday, July 28 at 1 p.m.
