Douglas David Mariner

AUGUSTA – On Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, Douglas David Mariner passed away peacefully, at Togus, VAMC Augusta, with loving family and friends at his side, his battle with cancer over. Doug was the son of Warren L. Mariner and Jo Anne ( Rommel ) Erving. He was born in Gardiner on July 28, 1962. He attended Litchfield schools and was living in Vassalboro when he enlisted in the Navy.Doug loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing, searching for fiddleheads and gathering wild mushrooms. He was a gifted artist, liked to tie flies and made beautiful knives. He had recently rekindled his love of riding motorcycles. Doug is survived by his parents, Warren Mariner and JoAnne Erving; his daughters, Kelsey Marie Mariner and Maeve Wolf OReiley; siblings Bonnie H. Coulombe, Michael J. Mariner and Anthony T. Erving; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; extended family and close friends, including the rest of the Seven Wonders. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Togus VA hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.Doug will be laid to rest on August 2, 2021, at 1 p.m., at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mt.
