Charles A. “Charlie” Stratton Sr.

BELGRADE – Charles A. “Charlie” Stratton Sr., 64, passed away on Saturday morning July 24, 2021, at home, with his devoted wife and son at his side. He was the beloved husband of Joi (Reed) Stratton with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.

Charlie was born Dec. 27, 1956, in Augusta. He was the son of the late Paul and Barbara (Gunning) Stratton. He resided in Belgrade for many years.

Charlie was a United States Navy veteran serving in the Vietnam era.

He was the owner and operator of Charles Stratton Building & Remodeling. Charlie took great pride in sharing his talent in carpentry and helping people.

Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, camping, four-wheeling, NASCAR races and football. He also enjoyed putting around his garage and he always had a project going.

In addition to his loving wife, Joi, Charlie is survived by his sons, Charles A. Stratton Jr. and his wife Linsey of Charlottesville, Virginia and Nathanial Stratton of Oakland, his stepdaughter, Mindy M. Smart of Lewiston, his brothers, Pete Stratton of Sidney, Hal Stratton of Belgrade and Scott Stratton of Frostproof, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ava, Isabella and Kip as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many devoted loyal friends.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased by his brother, Terry Stratton.

Charlie’s visiting hours will be in the Knowlton Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, on Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 10-11:30 a.m. There will be a prayer service at 11:30 a.m. Following visitation and prayer service there will be a celebration of Charlie’s life at the Augusta Elks. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
