Palermo Community Library is holding a book walk for all of August on the featured story “A House for Hermit Crab” by Eric Carleis.

Families can read the book while hiking the Palermo Preserve trails at 1401 Turner Ridge Road. They will find laminated pages of the book attached to trees, which children can read while they explore the natural world.

Readers can follow up their hike at the library for more information on hermit crabs, including fact sheets and habitat information, along with activities such as coloring pages and a take-home family craft.

This event is sponsored by the library with the cooperation of the Midcoast Conservancy. The library is located at 2789 Route 3.
