Lois Marie (White) Kenney

AUGUSTA – Lois Marie (White) Kenney, 81, passed away on Aug. 10, 2021, at her home, while surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. Born in Lewiston, on June 17, 1940. Lois grew up in Auburn and is the daughter of Ernest and Natalie White. She attended Edward Little High School and was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge in Augusta. Lois is also a retired bus driver, for the Augusta School District, whereby a number of area students remember her fondly as either their surrogate parent and/or biggest cheerleader. Lois Marie was a loving wife and mother. She was married to her husband, Meylon, for over 58 years, which is nothing short of inspiring. She was also a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. For a number of years, Lois created custom made wedding cakes for local residents and had the reputation of “who made the cake?” Of note, the infamous wedding cake recipe remains a closely guarded secret. She is also known for her absolute love of both babies and animals alike, as each found themselves lovingly cradled in her arms, to the exclusion of all others. Her laughter was the absolute epitome of her soul – it caught your attention, filled a room and you with complete joy, and it was infectious. You simply could not be in her presence and not feel utter happiness when she laughed. In fact, her sons and grandsons took to mimicking “the laugh,” which afforded countless hours of family entertainment. With her brilliant smile and love of adventure, Lois enjoyed countless friendships, of all ages, and all walks of life. If you were lucky enough to find yourself in her inner circle, your life was enriched beyond measure. In retirement, Lois LOVED her Harley adventures, especially riding the Maine coastal highway with her sons and daughter. The freedom riding afforded her was priceless and something that belonged only unto her. What a gift! Lois lived a wonderful life. She raised five exceptional children, sacrificed, and gave them every opportunity she never had. Simply stated, she touched the lives of many. We love you Mummy – always – and we know you will walk beside us forever!A daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and nana, Lois is lovingly survived by her husband, Meylon G.
